Dear Colleagues:

Welcome to the Fall season as we begin the Chapter Year and move into the holiday season. We started our year with a great workshop and luncheon on September 7. Ed Robinson led the workshop on Project Management Skills for auditors with over 60 people attending. At lunch Neil White from Deloitte & Touche. gave us an update on current Sox trends. All workshop attendees received 7 CPE credits. Mark Arning hosted the first General Auditors Roundtable on September 27 at New York Life. The next one is scheduled for October 25. We have great programs planned for the rest of the year. Here is a peek at some upcoming events.

  • Our workshop program continues on October 12th . Jay Ranade will train us in Auditing Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans and Programs. Our workshop and luncheon will be held at the Club Restaurant at Madison Square Garden . Uday Gulvadi of Eisner LLP will be our luncheon speaker and he will speak to us about ‘Managing the Risks of Growth'. Register early! Discount packages are still available through our subscriptions. If you are interested in subscriptions, please contact Bill Morello at 212-576-7745. Remember to mark your calendar for October 12.
  • The CIA Review classes will be held on Monday October 1st through Friday October 5th. As in the past, the format will be a one-day training session for each part of the exam with the exception of part three which will be covered over two days. Details are provided in this newsletter as well as on the website nyiia.org.
  • In November, the chapter will be hosting the CIA, CCSA, CFSA and CGAP exams. The exams will be held at the Park Central Hotel November 14 and 15.

Also in November we are planning a business and industry event hosted by Deloitte & Touche. The session is focused on Senior Women Executives who will discuss the benefits of working and their positions. Cocktails will be served afterwards and there is room for 80 attendees. Watch for updates on the website. The Special Events Committee is planning a late November joint meeting with ISACA with Emotional Intelligence and its effect on Leadership as the topic. Again watch the website for more details.

I look forward to greeting you at these upcoming events.
